The General Aviation Joint Steering Committee notes that inappropriate pilot response to unexpected events has contributed to aircraft accidents. This program will discuss the Human Startle Response to Unexpected Events. We'll also touch on the broader subject of Human Factors for General Aviation Pilots with a discussion of how humans process sensory input to yield critical flight information and how human biases can introduce errors that negatively impact decision making. And, we'll offer plenty of suggestions for improving pilot performance in the air and on the ground.

Our speaker is John Steuernagle, who is the Outreach Products Manager for the National FAA Safety Team, based here in Southern California. Prior to taking this position, he has thousands of hours and years of experience as a flight school owner, Designated Pilot Examiner, and FAA Accident Prevention Counselor, and more.

A bratwurst or hot dog dinner will be served starting at 6PM. Come early for some hangar chatter before the meeting gets going!

In order to maintain compliance with County of Orange Health Care Agency Covid19 recommendations, if you are not vaccinated against Covid, you will be required to wear a mask at the meeting location. If you are fully vaccinated, a face covering is highly recommended.

"Prior to attending a safety seminar please review and abide by current CDC, State, and Local health guidelines."
